Frequently asked questions

Excursions from Alhama

What excursions can you do from Alhama?

Within a short radius lie very different worlds: the city of Almería with its Alcazaba and cathedral, the coves of Cabo de Gata, the Tabernas desert with its western sets, the prehistoric site of Los Millares or the thermal baths of the village itself.

How long does it take to reach the sea, the desert and the city?

From Alhama, at 520 m at the foot of the Sierra de Gádor, almost everything is under an hour away: the city of Almería is about 25 minutes and Cabo de Gata about 40 minutes by car. The Tabernas desert and Los Millares are equally close.

How do you get around the area?

The most convenient option is the car: the road network connects the village with the A-7 and the rest of the province in little time. It lets you combine the sea, the desert and the city in a single day at your own pace.

Are there adventure activities in the desert?

Yes. As well as visiting the film sets, you can take buggy excursions among the canyons and lunar landscapes of Tabernas, a different way to discover the only desert in mainland Europe.
