The village's historic spa, built in the 19th century around its thermal springs; today a hotel with a spa and thermal circuit at the foot of the Sierra de Gádor.
The Balneario San Nicolás was founded in the 19th century around the thermal springs of Alhama de Almería, in the heart of the Andarax valley and at the foot of the Sierra de Gádor. It keeps the character of the old Andalusian spas and combines rest with body care.
Its mineral-medicinal waters rise at around 37.5 °C and are traditionally associated with relief from rheumatic, joint and respiratory complaints. The building also operates as a hotel, with a restaurant, café, library, chapel and lounges, and takes part in the Imserso thermal-treatment programme.
