Barea

← Breakfast
20 km from Alhama

Barea opens from 6:45 in central Almería, bringing toast, coffee, churros, pastries, waffles and crêpes together under one roof. It also serves the local pale-pink americano and carries on through the day with an extensive selection of tapas and chérigans.

On Calle Granada, beside Plaza de San Sebastián and a short walk from Puerta de Purchena, Barea starts the coffee machine at 6:45 from Monday to Saturday. Its classic breakfast covers toast, coffee and churros, with croissants, sweet rolls, waffles, crêpes and assorted pastries on the sweeter side.

Barea also makes the Almería americano, a coffee-free drink of hot milk, sugar, lemon peel, kola-nut liqueur or cream and cinnamon. The liqueur gives the drink its pale-pink colour, and it is served in a small clear glass. After breakfast, it continues as a traditional bar with a menu of almost fifty tapas, including numerous chérigans. A change of ownership in 2025 retained both the staff and the menu.
