El Toyo-Retamar beach, in the municipality of Almería, stretches about 600 metres long by 40 wide, with coarse sand and small gravel. It has a promenade, showers, a lifeguard, set-up play areas and an authorised watersports zone. Its environmental quality has earned it the European Union Blue Flag, and it marks the start of the protected Cabo de Gata coastline.
