Churrería
22 km from Alhama

Isabel Simón's churros, Escudo de Oro of Almería, still come out every morning in El Alquián from her family's hands.

Churrería Isabel is on Calle Magallanes in El Alquián, a district of Almería, and carries a proper name: that of Isabel Simón, who founded and ran it for decades, was awarded the city's Escudo de Oro and passed away in 2021. Her family is still at the fryer, and their churros are among the most prized in Almería.

You come in the morning, which is when it usually opens, and leave with a warm bag: thin, crisp churros made to order, to take home or eat on the way.

If you are heading to El Alquián or Retamar beach, the detour is worth it: few bags of churros have so much history behind them.
