Neighbourhood churros with the Alcazaba overhead: the stop that turns the climb to the monument into a stroll with breakfast.
Churrería Manolo is on Calle Almedina, at the corner of San Juan, in the quarter that climbs towards Almería's Alcazaba. It is a neighbourhood churro shop with no pretension beyond turning out hot churros, but with an advantage few have: the fortress in view while you dunk your churro in coffee.
The plan is simple: drop down into the Almedina before going up to the Alcazaba, have breakfast here and tackle the slope with energy. The locals do it every day.
