The Santa Fe pionono, that bite of syrup-soaked sponge topped with toasted cream, served on Almería's Rambla by the house that invented it.
Ysla Piononos Almería is the city outlet of the Ysla brand, the Santa Fe (Granada) pastry house that created the pionono. It sits at number 18 Avenida Federico García Lorca, the Rambla, and works as pastry shop, café and ice cream parlour in one.
What to order is obvious: the Santa Fe pionono, small, syrup-soaked and crowned with toasted cream, eaten in two bites with coffee. Alongside it, ice creams for summer and pastries to take away.
Open from eight in the morning to eight at night on weekdays and until nine at weekends, with seating and home delivery for the after-lunch box of piononos.
