Cafetería Colón stands on Plaza Marqués de Heredia, which everyone calls Plaza de los Burros, in the heart of Almería. Its churros have for decades been breakfast for office workers, grandparents and students, and the after-school snack for children.
The formula needs no frills: freshly fried churros, coffee or hot chocolate, and a square with benches to eat them on if there is no table. Best mid-morning, when the square is lively and the dough keeps coming.
