Meringues, palmiers and ensaimadas from a confectioner on Avenida de la Estación since 1968, open from seven in the morning to nine at night.
Confitería Rex, Pastelería Rex to half of Almería, opened in 1968 on Avenida de la Estación and is still one of the street's long-standing shops. Generations of locals have had breakfast here before the train and afternoon tea here on the way back from school.
The cabinet is that of a classic confectioner: melting meringues, palmiers, ensaimadas, butter pastries and cakes to carry to a family lunch. Eat at the bar or on the terrace, or have a box packed for home.
Open from seven in the morning (eight on Saturdays, nine on Sundays) until nine at night, it works as well for an early breakfast as for an afternoon coffee. Moderate prices, cards accepted, step-free access.
