Especialidades Campos Valverde, known as Productos CAMP or Mantecados de Fondón, is a family firm founded in 1953 in Fondón, with over seventy years of additive-free artisan production. Today it makes over 200,000 kilos a year with 34 staff, and its sweets travel across Almería, the rest of Spain, France and the Netherlands. It belongs to Sabores Almería.
Its flagship is the special lemon mantecado, "the blue-paper one", the one many people spot by its wrapper; alongside come the chocolate mantecado, the Dulcita mantecados, almond and chocolate polvorones, and anise, wine and hazelnut roscos. The season starts in early August and picks up mid-September; the rest of the year the workshop makes biscuits, magdalenas and cakes.
The online shop ships across mainland Spain (one-kilo bags from €10); the Balearics, Canaries, Ceuta and Melilla by phone order.
