Hand-moulded Laujar mantecados since 1995, from a family factory that ships its Christmas boxes across Spain from the plain of Laujar de Andarax.
Mantecados y Especialidades Dulce Andarax began in 1995 as a cooperative and became a family firm; the second generation runs it today. In 2004 it moved to new premises on the plain of Laujar de Andarax; its main markets are Madrid and Barcelona. It has featured on Andalucía Directo (2015, 2017, 2018) and Canal Sur's "Cómetelo" (January 2020). Not to be confused with El Mantecado de Laujar, the village's other maker.
The star is the traditional Laujar mantecado, moulded by hand; polvorones, roscos, hojaldradas and Christmas assortments flank it, plus a year-round range so you need not wait for December.
If Laujar is far away, the online shop delivers; the wicker basket with a kilo and a half of mantecados is €12.
