Where it comes from

Roquetas de Mar

The indalote turns the province's symbol into a mouthful: Alpujarra almond and Andarax orange in the silhouette of the Indalo, in orange and chocolate versions. Its companions, the lagrimicas de Santa Ana, are baked meringues in four varieties, coconut among them. Both come from the same workshop: the Pastelería Cruz y García in Roquetas de Mar.

The pastry shop, founded in 1982, conceived them as long-keeping sweets made for giving: an edible souvenir of the province that survives the journey, sold in Roquetas de Mar and Aguadulce.

Said as it is: these are creations of a Roquetas pastry shop, not traditional sweets. They are here for what they tell of this land's almond and orange — and because, as a travel souvenir, few things say so much in so little space.
