Meringues to the same recipe for sixty years and almond mantecados that travel the world at Christmas: the Dalías pastry shop founded in 1952.
Pastelería Escobar was founded in 1952 by Salvador Escobar García and Salvador Escobar Durán in Dalías; the third generation, Patricia and Juan Ibáñez, run it today and it is a Poniente reference for traditional pastry. About ten years ago a second counter opened in El Ejido for weekend demand.
Its meringues have followed the same recipe for sixty years, and at Christmas the handmade mantecados, with almond and Iberian lard, are shipped "anywhere in the world". The rest of the year: cakes, cabello de ángel, chocolate and classic and decorated doughnuts that go fastest at weekends (€1.20 classic, €1.50 decorated).
