Five and a half kilometres on the old mining railway that carried ore down to Agua Amarga. Asphalted end to end, from 550 to 410 metres: on a bike, a good half-hour of descent.
Until 1942, a mining railway carried iron down from Lucainena de las Torres to the loading bay at Agua Amarga. Five and a half kilometres of that line survive today as a greenway.
The route is linear and always descends in the direction of travel, from 550 down to 410 metres. On foot it is an hour and a half one way; by bike, a good half-hour of continuous descent, the sierra on either side and the old calcination ovens in the distance.
It is asphalted end to end, which makes it doable with a pushchair and with a dog, and asks for no particular fitness. Bikes can be hired in the village.
